Review of Upcoming Fundraisers

Review of Current Fundraisers

The Believe Kids fundraiser is happening Nov 1- Nov 15th, 2025, for the field trip fund.

Upcoming Fundraisers

December - World's Finest Chocolate - hasn't been decided on where the funds will go

Fund Development Ideas and Next Steps

The Foundation Board met on Oct 21, 2025 and have the following fundraising ideas:

  1. Foundation Board president met with Tyree Smith - Smith would like to use his property to host a student art show, for the community to purchase student art
  2. Survival preparedness workshop in the spring, on Smith's property (73 acres) and the school's farm. Possibly partner with 4-H

Strategic Plan Review

Build a working farm and food hub

Focus: Partnership Development, Servant Leadership

Metrics:

  • Grow 50% of food used on campus by 2028
  • Distribute 100,000 lbs of produce annually to feed families
  • 100% of students participate in agricultural and food justice projects

Initiatives:

  • Expand farm operations with goats, chickens, greenhouse crops
  • National partnership with farm to school
  • Partner with Atlanta Community Food Bank and USDA for food hub distribution
  • Develop a farm to table culinary program for middle school
  • Establish a student farm apprenticeship program (grades 6-8)

Principal Muhammad would like a farmer's market at the school twice a month on Saturday mornings.

It is suggested that we start tracking the number of people who receive the food giveaway boxes.

We need a farm manager within 1-2 years. Foundation Board/Fund Development should fund the cost of that position. Ideally, the position would be part time, 2-3 days per week.

Possibly, high school students could get credit to maintain our farm.
