Welcome and Call to Order
Placing New Board Members on Committees
@Abigail Corbett, J.D. discussed the open committee placements for the newest board members. @Dr. Knox Phillips discussed that he approached the new board members about joining the finance committee as their expertise is needed to help solidify the structure of the finance committee.
Upcoming Board Retreat Planning
@Dr. Knox Phillips discussed planning for the upcoming Board retreat. March 2018 is the targeted month. A Saturday session is being planned. @Dr. Knox Phillips is working getting Clay Johnson to do a training on the new Board Governance software as well as training from the Georgia Charter School Association to guide the Board on charter renewal expectations. Other Board planning will also occur.
Planning for Open Board Member Seat
@Abigail Corbett, J.D.@April Ledom discussed the open Board seat recently vacated by Tyler Thigpen. The Governance Committee is exploring applications and inquiries from prospective Board members. This open seat will be an appointed seat through June 2018 and then be up for re-election. @Dr. Knox Phillips will work with @Abigail Corbett, J.D.to make sure interviews for prospective Board members prior to the meeting.
Posting of Agendas and Notes for Committee Meetings
@Dr. Knox Phillips discussed the use of the new CharterBoards software to help govern committee notes. Training on this new software will come at the next Board retreat.
Organization of Past and Present Board Policies
@Dr. Knox Phillips and @Abigail Corbett, J.D. discussed the need to update bylaws and policies. @LaChauna Edwards, J.D.and @April Ledom disused how we can better organize the posting and feedback of Board policies. @Abigail Corbett, J.D. is working on a first read of the Board policies for the next meeting.
