Academics/School Update of Events
The new school safety and climate protocols have been a tremendous success. We no longer issue temporary IDs and the students may not enter through the back vestibules unless they are wearing an ID. Hat and hood infringements are being handled through the referral process. Thus far this has not been an issue.
~8/24 Pep Rally- we had the best rally ever! The entire school attended. It was planned. Mr. Fenenssey and Coach Lee were hilarious as the MCs. The students demonstrated tremendous school spirit.
~8/24 JICHS won the PJ&J Blitz against West Ashley. Our school brought in over 4,000 lbs of PB&J for the Low Country Food Bank. This most any school has raised in the two years of this program. We will be participating in the PB&J Blitz again during the week of September 24 when we play Stratford in football.
~9/7/18 Team Up for St. Jude- Congratulations to Ms. Davidson, Mrs. Cowart, and the Cheerleaders for $942.87 at the football game versus Stall.

Technology- Matt Gilbert
The beginning of the school term is well underway. The technology team wishes to express thanks to the Board of Trustees for approving the purchase of an additional 250 Chromebooks. We also appreciate your support in making the JICHS campus a safe campus. Door Fobs are programmed and working properly. Gated-campus is functioning properly. There are several other programs with technology needs that we are exploring at this time (fine arts, non-EOC core courses).
Technology is working with individual teachers to provide specialized training on SmartBoards, Promethean Boards, and iBoards in an attempt to deliver instruction in a way that generates a higher level of interest and involvement in learning.
Copy/printing services have been having a much higher uptime since we've purchased PaperCut.

School Safety Update
Metal detector screening is occurring multiple times per week. Mr. Edwards has trained the assigned staff on the screening process and continues to refine the process. One major change he made is having a bag search on both sides of the tower. This allows us to double the number of students screened. Staff and students continue to become more efficient the more we do the screenings. Cell phones and metal three-ring binders tend to be the items that trigger the detectors.
Random car and classroom searches are scheduled to occur multiple times per week.
The canine units have an open invitation to conduct a search. We will once again have multiple canine searches throughout the year.
Mr. Edwards and Mrs. Holland continue to work with ERIP (Emergency Response Information Portal) to update our school safety plans.
