The meeting will be called to order at 5:30 PM, beginning with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence.

So that there is agreement between board members on the agenda, and the amount of time spent on the meeting, the board shall vote to approve an agenda for the meeting. To the best of its ability, it will follow that agenda, and allow for the chair to move the board through the agenda as specified.

Public Comment

Two 11th-grade IB students, Hayden Groeschel (Year One IB Contender) and Jackson Cowart (IB Global Pathways), spoke during Public Comment regarding their recent IB field trip to volunteer with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SC DNR). They shared their experiences participating in marsh grass planting and oyster reef cleanup and described the service opportunity as both educational and rewarding. The students also expressed their interest in promoting the IB program and encouraging greater student involvement.

Culinary Arts Visit

The Board was invited to visit the Culinary Arts Lab, where Chef Shepherd’s Culinary II class, with assistance from students in the Culinary I class, prepared and served a meal. Culinary II students Stephen “Tripp” Mizzell and Makenzie Mahan served the Board. The menu included shrimp étouffée, greens, Moroccan carrot salad, and fresh apple crisp.

Both Tripp and Makenzie responded to questions from Board members with enthusiasm and professionalism, expressing appreciation for the knowledge and skills they have gained through the program. Chef Shepherd also presented a slideshow highlighting classroom activities, including visits from local chefs and field trips that provided students with additional hands-on learning opportunities.

Financial Report for Approval

Hannah Crowder presented the JICHS monthly Financial Statement for January.

Board Subcommitte Reports

  • Finance - Nothing
  • Capital Projects - Mr. Thorn met with CCSD regarding interviews to select a firm, they plan to interview 3 firms. They are hoping to breakground in 2027 after Football Season.
  • Principal Evaluation and Support - Nothing
  • Community Engagement - Committee is working on two projects (Brick Project and Golf Scramble) with more information to come.
